Montes de Málaga Nature Park
In close proximity to the north of Málaga is the national park of Los Montes, which spans 4, 900 hectares of spectacular natural beauty. The vegetation consists of conifer trees like pines and cypresses and the lush deciduous foliage of such varied kinds as cork oaks, olive trees and willows. The hilly woodlands are home to a rich animal life, and one might be fortunate (or unfortunate..) to spot such diverse animals as the wild boar, the wild cat, the mongoose and the hedgehog, during a walk on one of the many hiking trails in the area. The park hosts several camping sites and magnificently situated lookout points. The use of motor vehicles is permitted very sparingly.
