Sierra Nevada Nature Park
Between the cities of Granada and Almeria, approximately 2 hours drive north-east of Málaga, the snow-capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada mountain range seem to hover over the cultivated valleys, 3, 481 meters below the highest point Mt. Mulhacen. The area's vegetation varies with altitude, ranging from lavish meadows and dense forests in the lower altitudes to barren desert landscapes, glacial lakes and alpine regions higher up. During the winter months (November - May), the UNESCO protected park offer exceptional skiing opportunities with a number of great slopes for the beginner as well as for the advanced skier. The adventurer will also find great opportunities for activities such as rock-climbing, para-gliding, horseback riding and mountain biking.
