Ronda (pop. 30,000)
Ronda is one of the most beautiful and best know genuinely White Villages in Spain. Situated in a valley surrounded by towering mountains about an hour's drive from Málaga, and soaked in history, it is a popular place to visit. The town is split in two by a steep ravine, dividing the Medieval and 18th century parts, but connected by stone bridges, the "old bridge" and "the new bridge", which is quite a riveting experience to cross. Ronda is a dynamic town and is host to a number of festivals around the year. The mountainous area is popular among climbers, paragliders and cavers, as well as to those who enjoy floating above the mountains in a hot air balloon.
